About Helene Wasserman

Helene Wasserman has devoted her entire career, since 1987, to representing employer of all sizes and in all industries, assisting them with their labor and employment law needs. Rather than being a “jack of all trades,” dabbling in various areas of law, Helene views herself as being a “master of one” - employment law.

Helene is a firm believer in the concept of “preventive lawyering.” While she is an accomplished trial attorney, she recognizes that going to trial is rarely in her client’s best interests. Hence, Helene devotes a significant amount of effort to assisting her clients in putting into place the appropriate policies and procedures, training programs, and basic employment practices that, if applied correctly, can aid in litigation prevention. Many clients keep Helene’s direct dial, (310) 772-7288, on their speed dial, to ask those day-to-day employment law questions that tend to arise, whether related to wage and hour issues, termination, discrimination, harassment, leaves of absence, or any other issues that may arise within today’s workplace. Because she is surgically attached to her blackberry, clients email her at hwasserman@littler.com

Unfortunately, all of the best employment practices won’t prevent an employee who wants to file a claim from doing so. In those situations, Helene partners with her clients to provide the best defense possible, to accomplish the goals of her clients. In those situations, the “preventive lawyering” can assist in providing a winning defense. Whether it is in arbitration, alternative dispute resolution, litigation, or trial, Helene uses her significant experience to assist her clients in achieving optimal results.

Helene also uses her experience and expertise to assist her clients, and all California employers, legislatively.  Helene has been actively involved with the Conference of Delegates of California Bar Associations for several years.  The CDCBA is the quintessential “grass roots” legislative organization comprised of attorneys throughout California who all have a desire to improve the laws of the state of California by proposing and debating potential legislation.  After having been the Chair of the largest delegation in the state of California, the Los Angeles County Bar Association delegation, and having served for two years as a state Sergeant -at-Arms and for three years on the state Resolutions Committee of the CDCBA, Helene was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the CDCBA.  There, Helene will continue with her efforts to improve the employment laws within California.

In her spare time, Helene enjoys cooking and fine wine, and is in the process of obtaining her private pilot’s license.  The license plate frame on her red convertible reads “I’m not driving fast, I’m flying low.”
